Corpus Christi Train 2, which is on track for completion later this year, has secured offtake with Naturgy, Iberdola, Pertamina, Woodside Energy, EDF and Trafigura

CHENIERE Energy is set to increase exports from the Corpus Christi liquefied natural gas terminal later this year.

The second of the three-train Corpus Christi Stage 1 and 2 LNG project has delivered its first commissioning cargo, a joint statement issued by Cheniere Energy and Bechtel said.

This puts Cheniere Energy, the largest LNG exporter in the US, on track to fulfil the long-term offtake arrangements secured for the second train.

Spain’s utility groups, Naturgy and Iberdola, Indonesia’s Pertamina, Australia’s Woodside Energy, France’s EDF and trading house, Trafigura have committed to take LNG cargoes from Corpus Christi Train 2.

Cheniere Energy has three trains with a combined nameplate capacity of 13.5m tonnes per annum lined up for the first two stages of its Corpus Christi LNG development.

Bechtel is driving the engineering, procurement and construction of this project.

Corpus Christi is one of three export terminals to have entered operation in the US.
